If you’re not sure about something, you might speak with a partner or friend, search for advice online, or approach a trusted professional for guidance, but this quote from bestselling author Brianna Wiest, shared with us by holistic wellbeing coach, Laura-Mai Edwards of Root Beginnings, serves as a reminder you already hold all the answers.

“Instead of trying to figure out whether or not something is definitely right for you, just notice what creates resonance or dissonance. Ask yourself if it makes your body gently contract or expand. Ask yourself if it gives at least as much energy as it takes. Ask yourself if it intrigues you, fascinates you, compels you. Ask what is there to be found. Ask where walking this path might lead. Pay attention to your body’s most subtle responses: the way you lightly open or close yourself to the experience, and tally up the smallest coincidences. Let yourself be guided in the quietest ways.”

The Pivot Year, Brianna Wiest

If you can’t hear what your body tells you, try lying down in a quiet space with your knees up to keep the hips comfortable. Place your hands gently over your stomach with fingers and thumbs touching and create a diamond shape with your hands ― the opening of the diamond sits over your belly button. In yogic practices his area is your Hara (belly) and the centre of all your energy, giving access to your true self.

Take some slow, deep breaths in this position and pay attention to what your body’s feeling, and where, as you ponder your next move.
